Happy Thanksgiving family!!
My friend Aristi and I planned to host a turkey dinner for a few other girlfriends. So after looking at every grocery store for a turkey we finally found a friend who could get us a turkey. He showed me where to pick it up Sunday morning.... Some hole in the wall place... about a 4 foot square. So, I show up just before I'm ready to cook it and what do you know?!!!? The place is closed. So, I storm around there for a few minutes. Really, there is nowhere to look for them... or a phone number or anything. It's literally a hole in the wall! It's in the corner of a building, with a window and door opening to the street. Thats it! So, I ask at the grocery store next to it. Nope nope... nobody knows how to get in touch with them.
So, I write them a note to call me when they get back. And in the mean time, the owner called my friend and said... Oh... I'm back in Cancun... Sorry you can't get your turkey. Seemed like the grocery store DID know how to contact her as it was a weird coincidence that she just HAPPENED to call Tona as I was still standing there.
Anyway.... no turkey for us. Which was fine... But I hope to god they didn't kill the turkey!!! When you get one from the grocery store you don't really think about how they grew up and all of the sudden got their head chopped off for you to enjoy Thanksgiving. But when you directly ask someone to go kill one of their turkeys and bring it to you... makes me kinda sad for the poor thing.
So, my friend Aristi was here since around noon and we made, 3 chickens (poor guys), mashed potatoes, gravy, greek salad (Aristi is greek), ceasar salad, veggie platter with dip, and stuffing! Oh my god mom... how do you do it every year all by yourself! And your tastes so much better! hahaha.
I am thankful for little animals giving their lives to help us live.... and mom for making such super fantastic meals every holiday!!
THANKS! Happy Thanks giving!
