Checkin' out the Mayan Wedding
Lori, I must admit this work is outstanding. I almost felt as though I was there. Loved the Trash the Dress. What a way to end the year, with your best work to date! Proud of ya, kid!

Just hanging out on my patio, enjoying the evening breeze. Maya is piling her toys on my laps in hopes that I'll throw one of them. Soon she'll give up and throw them for herself. When she shakes them "to death" and lets go they go flying across the room. :-)

Here's what I did Christmas day! Obviously I would have preferred to be with the family but this was a close 2nd place. I bought myself a necklace, and a henna tattoo. Merry Christmas to me! My holiday season has been very different but I was able to get into the spirit and make the best of it. It was great... and continues to be!

Well, now that the hype of Christmas is over, we start the new hype of New Years for a week. Gavin and I just booked our tickets for a NY party.....Las Vegas theme. Not sure how that will work out...seems a little outrageous for Dubai, but I guess we'll see what its like. We're going with the same Aussie friends that we had Christmas with. Should be a good time.
I was going to add some pics....but I'm having some techinical difficulties. Stay tuned.

Do you think I need any more help?
Thanks Teva. I'm sure I couldn't have wrapped without you. Notice how crinkled the paper is....might I add by the time she was done it was also ripped and clawed.

Finally got the Christmas Tree decorated. It's red and silver with candy cane ribbon. Teva was a great help...in helping to snag anything hanging down. At least this year she didn't try climbing the trunk. Might I add wrapping gifts with a 20 pound cat standing on the paper doesn't work very well either. Maybe she thinks it is the rattling of her treat bag. Then just to add a little bit of challenge I added ribbon. So far she's pawed them and now she thinks chewing on it is also acceptable. Lori, do think Teva will ever out-grow this childish behavior. Bet Jeter hasn't attacked your parcels! Guess maybe this is just a warm-up for when Addyson comes Christmas Eve.

wow...I finally got into this thing! It has been complaining about my acct and I never had time to look into and today when I tried, all the whining was gone.
Anyhow, we had turkey at thanksgiving and I plan that Mom will cook us an Xmas feast as well! Maybe she doens't know it yet though! Addy is already asking for pumpkin pie when we go to Gma and Gpa's place. She is a demanding lil girl.
Well, instead of adding presents under the tree, we've been removing them. Little does Addy know that the gifts she keeps giving up don't actually belong to her. She has to give up a present under the tree for every night that she doesn't sleep in her bed like a big girl. So far, she hasn't slept an entire night since we've returned from Grey Cup (owww...the pain of witnessing another Rider loss) on Nov 29th!! She was on a 2 week record prior to this.
Not much else new. I'm almost done Xmas shopping and we've had quite a few weddings in Nov and now Xmas parties in Dec.
I guess I need to post some pics or videos soon. Hey, does this blogger thing have an iphone app?
Later all!

In case you're interested, here are some links regarding stuff thats going on here. UAE is making Canadians get Visas before they come here, instead of just issuing a 30 day visitor visa upon arrival. Anyways, I have to get our marriage certificate attested before I can get a residence visa, and I don't know how long that takes. Not sure what happens in the new year if I need another extension (which I probably will). Maybe Tesco will have to send me back to Canada until I have a residence visa approved. (oh, and I haven't read these yet).

Well, I wish I was in Houston enjoying turkey, mashed potatoes and the whole bit....including ending the night with some shopping! Black Friday deals. So sad I'm gonna miss it this year.
So, I don't think I've told you guys (besides mom) that his Hummer deal fell through. Well, it was a go, we had the money in the bank for it and everything. Well, Gavin was going to meet this guy (Mike - owner) at 3 pm at the Transportation office to transfer the title and all that junk....well, Mike calls at about 130 and says that he was just at a traffic light, and he went to take off, and nothing.....he was getting the Hummer towed. Transmission needs work. Needless to say, he returned our deposit and we're looking again. We went out to the automall last night to take a look around. We looked at a few vehicles. There is one that we're gonna go look at tomorrow...in the light. It's an 07 Hummer again. Black. Only 24k kms on it. The story is (so we're told), the previous owner is the owner of Geant (closest you'll get to WalMart) at Ibn Battuta Mall. He just bought 2 new vehicles (Bentley and Porsche) before Eid (about 2 weeks ago), and he left his Hummer at the dealer for them to sell. Anyways, the interior is almost perfect, small imperfection in the dash...a button missing...and the outside has a few knicks in the paint. We're going to look at it again early tomorrow.
Tomorrow, we also have some appts to look at places for rent. I can't wait until we have a place. This apt living is annoying. Having to take the dog out on the leash everytime he needs to pee. I think he's on a pretty good routine, so I appreciate that. It will be nice to let him run around again...and so Gavin can chase him in the yard. Everything is tile here so he gets no traction and I don't want him to wrap himself around a table leg or something. We don't need to be making any trips to the vet. He does like to lay out on the patio and park himself in the sun. After a few mins he'll come back in the apt panting. Funny little man.
Gav and I went out for Thanksgiving dinner last night. He had a beef pie with mashed potatoes and gravy. I had pizza. We did our cheers to Thanksgiving over that meal! hahaha. Maybe we'll have a real meal at Xmas.
I might go for my first trip to Abu Dhabi this week. I think Gav (and Gary) will be going almost everyday this week....so I thought maybe Gary's wife and I can tag along and they can drop us off at the mall, until they're done. I haven't been there yet so if we do go, I'll have to do my research!
Well family....thats all for now.
Love Conster.
PS Lor, thanks for the gourmet meal tips. I may have to try that.

Ah Con... ur such a rookie! It's easy... turn oven on, it doesn't even matter what temperature. Just somewhere around normal. Dump some things in a cookie sheet and slide it in. Voila! Sometimes if you want to mix it up a bit you can take those cookie sheet goodies and cook them on the BBQ instead! For example, chicken burgers, or chicken wings. Then you call it a gourmet meal.

Not sure what will be going on here....probably not too much. Maybe moving. Don't know if we'll have a tree. Probably not. Its packed. Guess it depends when we get in a place....still looking but feels like its a never ending project. You would think that these people just dont' want to rent out their places. So annoying. Nobody calls back.
Anyways, nothing new around here. Did some retail therapy yesterday, not much though. I wanted to make some turkey today....but I don't have wheels to go to the grocery store...and you can just imagine what it would be like to drag Gavin there after work. I guess I'll have another cookie sheet dinner....Lor, how do you stand it?!?!? :)
Peace out.

Yup, I plan to get a tree today. I need to find a stand though. Everywhere you buy a tree here they nail a 4x4 stand to it and a water bowl. Thats right... they nail through the water bowl to attach it to the bottom of the tree. Needless to say... it doesn't work very well. Couldn't actually water the tree last year without it leaking out the bottom. Made for a dry brown tree. :-(

You can't have "Mr. Nick-Nak M & M". I rather like him....oops Dad is the one who has all the M & M characters. Maybe I should be putting them out! He's really cute Lori. Do they have lots of Christmas things out? I'm curious as to whether you will have a Christmas tree. Thanks for sharing. How did the shoot go? Haven't had time to check out the new site. Hopefully later this week.

Happy Birthday again. Connie you will recall Kimberly sent you a birthday wish. I was the one who asked her to send it...I believe it was worded with, Happy Birthday from Canada. Just making sure you don't think I didn't recall giving birth to a third daughter like 31 years ago. Anyways sounds like Gavin made your day pretty special. We were in a "winter wonderland" aka Regina and putting up with -30 degree weather and a little wind chill to go with it over the week-end. Glad to be back in Medicine Hat putting up with way less snow and warmer temperatures.

Thanks brother and sisters for the Bday wishes.....looks like the parents forgot about me....I guess thats what happens when you move to another hemisphere! :)
Gavin took me out to the Buddah Bar. I guess you could call it very expensive and fancy Chinese food. It was delicious. Good thing I only have one bday a year!!
Today we'll be picking up the Hummer. I'm sure Gavin is excited he won't have to drive the Mitsubishi Galant anymore. He's been driving that little car for 8 months! Going from his truck to the car was probably a pretty big adjustment!!
Today I'm going to look at some villas. Hopefully I find something good for a good price. Wish me luck.
Lor, Good Luck with your photo shoot....I'm sure you'll do awesome.
Dar, I'm gonna try to call you sometime so I can figure out how much it costs for a long distance phone call. I think sending texts for me is pretty cheap. 60 fils = $0.16. Much cheaper than the $0.50 for International texts from Houston.
Anyways, gotta go get ready for the day, while you guys are just getting ready for bed! Isn't it funny!

Morning. I'm up at 8:00 this morning! That's what happens when I go to bed at 10:30. Rained most of the day yesterday... it was sooo nice! Until i went out for KFC. Newly opened in Playa. I was so excited to try it. But it bombed... different fries, different gravy and dark meat big crunch. Yuck yuck yuck... All bad.... Guess I'll still to McDs and Burger king!

I talked to Connie yesterday. She couldn't get her skype to work. We think probably just because of a slow connection. We used another program online and were able to communicate by voice only. Video was too much I guess cause it was all choppy and freezing. Our voice convo was pretty much perfect though.

Happy to see your reading this today. I knew your flight would go smoothly. Was Gavin at the airport to meet you? What about Sisqo? Maybe it was a good thing you lived in Houston for awhile, the heat shouldn't be quite so hard on him now. So, tell me, what was the first thing you thought of when you landed? Good luck to you and Gavin in the new venture. Like Lori, a new language to learn, a new culture to get accustomed to, life goes on and you as well have widened your horizons....let me see, both from Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan, Canada. Although your all away from us, we are very proud of everyvbody's accomplishments.

Hey Lori, that was the "Bomb Blizzard" and that's exactly what they called it. Apparently it has something to do with the barometric pressure and temperature dropping over 20 points in 24 hours. I forgot my meds, but did you forget your glasses....wizzard? I know where I can hook you up for an eye exam when you come to Canada. Your right about Darin. Seems he has to be out of the country to actually hear from him. Take care.

Lori sounds like finding a turkey in Mexico is a feat in itself. Perhaps the hole in the wall wasn't for turkeys. In Canada such a set-up would be for drugs. I guess chickens are a suitable substitute. I did cook a turkey and we did think of you and Connie & Gavin....thought about taking a picture of the turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy...just to remind you of old times. Yummy!
And you have something else to be thankful for. Kim, Bill & Addy left around 1:00 today....the day passed and around supper time Teva was no where to be found. Shook the treat bag and still no kitty....opened all the doors & closets...still no kitty. We did find her.....on the front step. Guess she got out when K,B & A were leaving and we didn't notice.
Had a mini birthday party for little Miss Addy. Darin & Andrea really spoiled her with presents. Addy was busy with her crazy ball & baking set when I got home Saturday. She also got the Barbie Movie & books. Addy fell in love with "The Princess Dress"(as she calls it)...its actually a top with bell sleeves and sparkles and now she thinks she's worth a million bucks....dancin up a storm. Ah, she is so funny. She's so special, truly a gift from God. We love her to pieces.
Connie also called Thanksgiving Day. She & Gavin will soon be leaving for Dubai. Their house isn't sold, however, it is leased for 2 years. I know they have been planning this for a while, but it still seems SO far. Now, you must remember this is someone who didn't want to leave Willow Bunch. How things change in a few years. Good luck in the new venture.

You captured it Lori! Look at the intensity, the concentration with the keyboard. No distractions with Addy when she's focused. The mess! Too funny, look how innocent poor Addy is....I don't think she missed one square inch of the floor...unless of course Kim helped her with the creation. You also got the Addy Charm. Giving her Mom a hug with a look that says "Watch me get what I want". The fun of being a little girl, dressing up and at the same time, the big girl checking the mirror out. They say Mexican Plaques always tell a story. Maybe your part Mexican as your pictures also tell a story. Thanks for sharing. They just seem to get better all the time.

Oh, by the way, I'm not sure if you guys actually changed the channel. I think that was about when remotes were invented. Either way, nobody's fingers are worn out from pushing buttons...actually now that I think about it, we bought the Hitachi just before moving from Regina and it DID have a remote. Sorry, can't cry child abuse.

Haha! We really do have a flasher, however, we have it under control. The culprit would be the 36 inch TV sitting in our living room. Seems time has expired and we are getting a couple days notice. We've broken down and a new LED is on its way. Now we have to do some more learning. Things were much easier when all we had to do was hit the "on" button and get one of you to change the channel.

I can't believe how quick your holiday flew by.
While Lori was in Canada, Dad & I went camping with her in Cypress. She got to enjoy some Canadian peace and quiet. We stayed in Terrace which was a change for us. Lori got to fine-tune her Girl Guide skills. Building fires is second nature to her now. Let's see....paper, sticks, logs and some magical fluid seemed to help heat things up. It was either get it going and keep it going or else early bedtime in a nice cozy bed. She did get a few nature lessons. Had a family of deer roaming every night, chick-a-dees, warblers, wild turkeys, not to mention the squirrels which seemed to be everywhere. I won the argument of how the squirrels gather their acorns....they scurry up the lodgepine, chew the end of the branch and then snip the acorn, usually leaving them fall to the ground. Thought for sure one of them was going to stow-away under the motorhome but haven't seen any roaming around. Lori did spend a day in Medicine Hat. Darin also came home. He ended up being the ride to Calgary. I'm sure she's thankful,(much better than the bus). Undoubtedly, Calgary had what she really missed.......the frost and snow. Haha. Just had to give her a little taste of the true North before going home. I see she didn't waste any time upon her return to Mexico. Looks like your really enjoying the sun now. Gives you a new appreciation for the Riviera...LUCKY DUCK! Was great having you home. Good Luck in your new business. Luv Ya & Miss Ya. M&D.
